How can I join the organization?
Joining is very easy! On GWU's Engage, search "Dear Asian Youth" and then press "Join" to request to be a member! Your membership will be approved within a few days and you will officially be a member of DAY @ GW. After joining, you will also be added to our mailing list where you will receive updates on future events and opportunities to contribute to the ZINE, and you will be subscribed to our monthly newsletter in which we outline plans for the month as well as updates from previous events in past months!
How can I help contribute to the ZINE?
Every semester, we will open applications for ZINE editor positions! As an editor, you would be responsible for arranging a submission into a unique spread and attending our bi-weekly editor meetings to provide updates on your work! When applications open for our Fall 2023 ZINE, we will send out an email and provide more information about it on our Instagram page (@dearasianyouthgw).
We will also have submission applications opening for the ZINE at the beginning of next semester so if you have any art, poetry, prose, photography, recipes, or other work that you would like to submit, we will send out an email when applications open and we will also be posting about it on our Instagram (@dearasianyouthgw)!
How often do we meet?
Our editor team meets bi-weekly until the release of the ZINE, but we also have events throughout the year for our general members like our picnic at the mall and DAYGIVING! To stay up to date on events, make sure that you are a member of our Engage page and also follow us on Instagram!
Do I need to be Asian to join?
Dear Asian Youth is an organization dedicated to uplifting and promoting the Asian community through intersectional activism. On ​campus, we have created a platform for Asians and non-Asian allies to amplify Asian voices and narratives through our bi-annual literary arts magazine and other digital platforms.
